ROBERT BURNS CLUB

A well-attended meeting of the Robert Burns Club was held in the Ponsonby Hall last night. The Hon. T. W. Hislop occupied the chair, and gave an interesting address on the work of Robert Barns.

The constitution and rules were adopted. , The following officers were appointed : —-President, Hon. T. W. , Hislop ; vice-presidents, Hon; '.-(f; >M. Wilford, James Oraigie, M.P., and Dr Gibb: joint secretaries. Miss I. Pickthall and Mr Martin Duff. It was decided to postpone the election of a committee till next meeting, the provisional committee to act in the meantime. After the conclusion of the business an enjoyable social evening was spent. Miss Daisy McLellan, the accomplished Highland dancer, gave r a fine exhibition of her skill at tho Highland Fling. Songs were contributed by' Messrs Martin Duff and Len Barnes; Miss Pickthall, Mrs Potts and Mossrp Leyden, Jackson and Sanders gave some fine musical trios. Mr W. W. Crawford, entertainer, provided some very amusing monologues which won hearty applause. The gathering concluded with “Auld Lang Syne.”
