SETTLEMENT IN DUNEDLN

The dispute between the *'iro brigades' Union of Workers and the IHmedin Fire Hoard came beforo the Conciliation Council to-day. Alter a lengthy sittiug, the following sca/e »I wages was agreed to:—Probationers 555, third-class firemen 60s, secondclass firemen Cos, first-clasn 70s, senior firemen 72s Cd. Motormen to receive 2s 6d extra instead of Is 6d as at present, married men not provided w:th quarters to receive house allowance of 14s per week each. The men are to he allowed 34 hours free every six days, and the following holidays: One year's service, seven days;' two years', ten days; three years, 14 days. An agreement has also been reached regarding uniforms. The agreement remains in force for two yjears.
