POTATOES AND ONIONS.
During the past fortnight much heavier buying has been done in regard to potatoes, mostly for this month's delivery. Operations; have been made for June de~ .Uveries.at higher rates. Values ruling now ~are r much lower, than was the case two months ago, when forward contracts were made, and when it was oxpected that export to. Australia would.be permitted. A decision, however, has not yet been finally made in. this .respect ns there is doubt as to whether there are sufficient'' potatoes in tho Dominion to meet requirements locally at a reasonable level of'prices. Onions have firmed considerably lately, and supplies ' are not offering freely. Potatoes, prime 48 10s to M pet ton; onions, ,£lO to 10s. OTHER VEGETABLES.
Cauliflowers continue to be very scarce, and as a. result high prices are ruling.
