INFLUENZA
IN SAMOA
COMMISSION OF inquiry APPOINTED. Messrs George Elliot (Auckland?, Thomas Wilson (Wellington), and Lieu-tenant-Colonel William H. S. Moorhouse have been appointed a Commission to inquire into the circum stances attending tho epidemic of pneumonic influenza at Samoa.
The order of reference is as follows :
(1) The circumstances and causes ot the introduction of epidemic pneumonic influenza into the islands of Western Samoa in or about the month of November. 1918, and of its extension in those islands.
(2) All matters connected with tho departure of the steamship Talune from the port of Auckland on or about the 30th day of October, 1918, her voyage to the said islands, and her arrival there, in respect of the bearing ot those matters on the introduction of the said epidemic. (3) Whether the introduction or extension of the said epidemic was caused by any negligence or default on the part -of any persons in the service ot tho Crown, whether in respect of tho Executive Council of New Zealand, or in respect of the administration of the, said islands of Western Samoa.
Mr R. G. Thompson will act as secretary of the Commission.
