FIRE INSURANCE STATISTICS

TO BE OBTAINED BY THE GOVERNMENT.

“The desirability of the fire insurance statistics of tho Dominion being brought into line-with those of other countries has been recognised for some time past,” said tho Hon. G. W. Russell yesterday. “New Zealand is one of tho few English-speaking countries which does not publish complete statistics of fire insurances. Canada publishes a special volume annually of these figures'. The matter is now being considered and a resolution has been come to that statistics dealing with the fire insurance position of the Dominion are tp bo obtained by tho Government Statistician.”
