At the Anglican Synod, resolutions expressing appreciation of chaplains work in thewar and of the' worth of the late Bishop Williams were carried. The General Synod, on a division, passed a resolution affirming the deeirahility of admitting women ' as churchwardens and members of - the vestry. _ The second reading' of the bill; for the alternative confirmation -of- the franchise was defeated by lay votes.
