Private Charles Goer, reported killed in action on October 4th, was a son of Mr James Goer, storeman at the Corporation yards in Clyde quay. Ho was born in England in 1873, and arrived in "Wellington the following year with his parents. He was educated at To Aro School, and then took up mining, being engaged for a large number of years in ibe Waihi mine. At the time of enlisting in tbe IDth "Reinforcements Private Goer was working at Gisborne.
