THE MEAT TRUST

REGENT “TIMES” ARTICLES CREATING INTEREST IN AUSTRALIA. The articles on the Meat Trust which appeared some time ago in the ‘'Times,” and were reproduced as a pamphlet, continue to arouse interest throughout Australia. The Australian “Farm and Home Journal’' has quite a long article on the matter in its issue of September 20th, which is the first of a series. Xfie “Queensland Wool and Produce Journal and Grazier” is still publishing a number of articles on the matter, and, according to a copy of this paper recently received, the Prime Minister’s attention has been drawn to these articles in tho House of Representatives, and he promised to get copies. Tho lawt issue of “Life” recommends its readers to got a copy of the pamphlet and peruse it. . Mr Lysnar, of Gisborne, received a letter from tho Undor-Secrotary for Agriculture for the Government of West Australia, stating that his Government's attention has been drawn to tho articles he had written, which aro referred to in tho “Pastoralists Review” of August 16th, page 794, and asking him, on behalf of tho Government°of West Australia, to supply thorn with some copies of the pam.phlet. “Tho Queensland Grazier and Wool and Produce Journal” of September 23th contains tho following;—“‘A Now Zealander’s Plaint.’ —Under this heading we have been publishing an article every- week for tho laist eight or nine weeks, and some people will have been why we did it. In the House of Representatives this week, the Minister replied to Mr Fenton (C.) that ho would obtain copies of the report by Mr Douglas Lysnar (Now Zealand) on the operations ol the American Meat Trust, and would, meanwhile, make inquiries into the operations of tho trust in Australia. That sounds as if things wore beginning to move. The English papers are talcing tho matter up, and even Queensland may stir. You never know your luck.”
