Mr Justice Sim, sitting in Banco to-day, heard the application of John McLaughlin, carrier, of Waimangaroa, for a writ of mandamus to compel Thomas Hutchison, S.M., and members of the Bull or licensing Committee to hear and determine his application for a publican’s license in respect of the premises known as the Rost Office Hotel, Waimangaroa. The application was granted. His Hononr held that as the application came before the committee at its annual mooting and was adjourned to the quarterly meeting by the committee on its own motion, it must he treated as having been adjourned to the adjourned annual meeting, and the mooting of September 12th was a continuation of the annual mooting. Defendants were not present or represented at court. Plaintiff’s application was before the committee at 'its annual meeting on June sth, but was adjourned by the committee to permit of certain repairs being effected to the premises. When the application was renewed at the quarterly meeting, the committee hold it had no jurisdiction to grant a license.
