AUCKLAND, October 14A message from Sydney, dated October sth, says that reports of great distress among families out of work aro being disseminated from tho Trades Hall, and an organised appeal for public assistance is being madeTho public are said not to bo viewing the matter very kindly. Food is being distributed from tho Trades Hall. Ali day long a stream of poor, povertystricken women flows through tho building. In one day it is estimated that 1200 persons, mostly women, obtained relief. Tho Aoting-Prenuor announced in tho House that the Government had decided to vote £20,000 for relief throughout Now South Wales.
