MAGISTRATE’S COURT
POLICE AND CIVIL CASES
Mr S. E. McCarthy, S.M., dealt with the following police cases at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday: — Five first offenders wore lined 2Us, or had their bail estreated. One individual, who staggered into the dock in a semi-inobnated condition, was remanded for a week. Charles Leatham, a previous offendor, for drunkenness, was fined AOs, in default to go to gaol for seven days. Jeannie Lynn, thirty-ono years o age, a married woman, appeared on a charge of being an incorrigible rogue, in that she habitually consorts w.tli reputed prostitutes. 4 The accused said she desired to obtain the services of a solicitor, and was granted a remand until Saturday for that purpose. CIVIL CASES. In the following cases in which the defendants did not appear, judgment was given by Mr W. G. Riddell, b-M., for plaintiffs, by default: —United Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ltd., v. Amiria Horomona (Mrs RSolomon), £4 12s 6d, costs £1; Commercial Agency, Ltd. v. Thomas itAlexander, £6 10s, costs £1 os bd, A.’bert Harold Hanlon v. George Carlisle, £2 ss, costs 10s; Spencer G. Radford v. William Spencer, £4 15s, costs 11s; Wallace and Gibson v. Jock Marshall, £6 X7s sd, costs £1 os 6d; Woodward and Jackson v. Franklin Devon, £4B 13s, costs £4 6s.
