POLICE AND CIVIL CASES

Mr S. E. McCarthy, S.M., dealt with the following police cases at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday: — Five first offenders wore lined 2Us, or had their bail estreated. One individual, who staggered into the dock in a semi-inobnated condition, was remanded for a week. Charles Leatham, a previous offendor, for drunkenness, was fined AOs, in default to go to gaol for seven days. Jeannie Lynn, thirty-ono years o age, a married woman, appeared on a charge of being an incorrigible rogue, in that she habitually consorts w.tli reputed prostitutes. 4 The accused said she desired to obtain the services of a solicitor, and was granted a remand until Saturday for that purpose. CIVIL CASES. In the following cases in which the defendants did not appear, judgment was given by Mr W. G.
