Tho Golfer stumbled iu the Masterton Hack, and Hector Gray had a nasty fall. ■Of tho New Zealand Cup horses, Menelaus, Midnight Star, and Paraoa won races, and Maniaroa and Johnny Walker were in places. ■Menelaus accounted for tho Flying in good style, coming at the right enr and settling the opposition over a furlong. Of the Now Zealand Cup candidates in the Ma&terton Cup, Multifual and Client both looked well, but Efeypt was much abovo himself. The heavy going settled tho top weights, and Orleans was never out of tho bunch. Midnight Star and Maniaroa fought out a good finish over tho last bit, and tho former had not too much to spare. Multifual, Egypt, and- Client wore some distance behind the winner. Teka, TOrials, and Masoot wore done with before tho final pinch, while Multiply js not ready. Egypt” appears to be the one most likoly to show improved form. O Dusky Eve made a very poor showing in the Maatorton Hack. Johnny Walker got the worst of the start in Hie Opaki Welter, hut came along in good fashion, and was third in tho end. Bjoroberg made no showing at al in this rape.
