AUSTRALIAN STRIKE
NEW UNIONS FORMED. By Tolecraph—Pres* Association— Copyright SYDNEY, October 11. Fifteen new unions formed as the result of the strike have applied for registration, and five others have applied for a change of name. MINERS CLAIM TO BE CONSIDER-, ED BY JUDGES. (Received October 11, 9.15 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 11. Three judges have been appointed specially to deal with tho claims of miners on various coalfields who allege that they have been wrongfully refused employment since tho resumption of work. PLOT TO "SECURE A REWAR D. SYDNEY, October 11. In connection with the shooting of the railway fireman Green on August ,25th, two men subsequently arrested wore discharged. A man named Thoriburn and a woman named Roo have been remanded on a charge of conspiring to sheet tho charge homo to the discharged men. The Crown Prosecutor alleged that the accused put their heads together to secure tho reward of £IOOO offered in connection with tho shooting. Alfred Green was shot late on the night of August 25th while on duty on a locomotive on the, lUawarra railway line. At the time of shooting the train was travelling at a fast rate. Driver Harding heard what he believed to be two reports of a firearm, and at the same moment Green complained of being struck by something in the chest. He was subsequently removed to .the hospital, where the injuries were found not to be serious.
