SEAMEN’S DISPUTE

UNION CONSIDERS SHIPOWNERS’ REPLY. A special meeting of the Wellington “local” of the Federated Seamen’s Union was held at the Trades Hall yesterday 1 afternoon to consider the reply of tho Shipowners’ Federation to the **amen’s request for a conference forwarded through Mr F. W. Rowley, secretary of the 'Labour Department. The meeting was also to decide whether representatives shall_ be appointed to appear before the Arbitration Court or Conciliation Council. There were about two hundred seamen, present, Mr J. Adams, the president, occupying the chair. . After a discussion lasting half an hour the _ meeting adjourned till 10 .o’clock this morning.
