HAS A GERM AN BEEN APPOINTED SOLICITOR? “Has a young German been appointed as solicitor to the Pitblic 9 mso Office, Auckland, with a three-years engagement?” asked Mr J. S. Dickson, member for Parnell, in the House of Representatives yesterday. “I understand,” he added, “that his parents are Germans, and that he is of German birth.” Sir Joseph Ward (Minister m charge); “Tho appointment will not bo made by mo, of course.” Mr Dickson: “No; I do not suggest that.” Sir Joseph Ward stated that he had not heard of it, but he would be very glad to inquire into the position if the hon. member would give him the tnan’a name.
