Ficm the Taranaki port the vessel will rstern to Wellington. OTAGO HARBOUR. The report called for by the chairman of the Otago Harbour Board (Mr Loudon) as to the present condition of the whole of the harbour will, it is understood, bo ready very shortly. ; It should be of material value, as showing what has happened since dredging ope-, rations 'were stopped in May of 1916. The opinion (says the "Otago Dally Times") seems to be held in certain quarters that a considerable amount of silting has taken place, but so far aa we can gather the report is likely to show that the depths have been well maintained, one important factor in this satisfactory result being tho effects of tho souith endowment wall, which,, it is stated, has practically prevented a largo quantity of silt coming into the steamers’ basin and tho Victoria Channel. OARGO~FOR AUCKLAND. An opportunity to ship general cargo from Wellington to Auckland will be offered to-day, when the Union 00. s steamor Kowhai will bo receiving for the latter port, up till noon. .The vessel is to get away this evening, and will call at Napier en route. THD~HINEMOA. THE CORINNA. . The Union Co. advise that tho Corinna was to have left New Plymouth last night for Wellington, although thoro was a probability of her not being able to get away. Tho vessel is now expected to sail from here tomorrow evening for Dunedin, Oamaro, and jjunarju . v,

WORK AT THE SLIP. Tho coastal .steamers Waka’tu and Kaitoa were brought o(f the patent slip yesterday morning, and as it bad not been found necessary to slip the Huia, the Union Co.’s hulk William stanson was taken up on the cradle. The hulk will not bo taken off for three or four, days, after which other hulks will bo placed on the slip.. MAKO DUB TO-MORROW. Richardson and Co.’s passenger and cargo steamer Mako, which customarily, nuts between Auckland, via bays, to Gisborne and Napier, is duo at Wellington to-morrow morning from rho Ikist Coast on a visit to this port. Tho vessel is not bringing any inward cargo and will not receive any town cargo, as she is to load transhipments for the East Coast. The Mako is expected to sail from Wellington to-morrow night. Tho vessel is due at Wellington on Sunday from Lyttelton, and will sail on Monday for Wanganui. HUIA RESUMES. Yesterday Mr W. B. Daniel, engineer of the coastal steamer Huia, discovered that the supposed leak in the hull o-t the vessel was a mistake, but that a leak in the pipe leading from the fresh water tank to the engine-room was the cause of the water _iu the bilges. Mq Daniel effected repairs, and it was not found necessary to put the boat on the patent slip. After getting up steam tho Huia will leave Wellington, early this morning for .Wanganui and New Plymouth w'xth a full cargo of general merchandise. The vessel is due back hero again on Saturday night, and will sail on Monday evening tor Wanganui and New Plymouth. THE WIMMERA. The Huddart-Parker Co.’s steamer (Wimmera left Dunedin on Tuesday for.
