SCOTT RELIEF FEND. LONDON, February 22. Lord Strathcona, Lord Howard Do ■Walden. Sir Edgar Speyer and Mr Reginald Smith have each subscribed £IOOO to the Scott Relief Fund. PROVISION FOR DEPENDANTS. STATEMENT BY MR ASQUITH. (Received February 23, 5.5 p.m.') LONDON, February 23. Mr Asquith informed the Lord Mayor that the Government proposes to provide for the relatives and dependants of Scott and his four companions, that their positions will remain as if the disaster nad not occurred. The relief funds now aggregate £30,000. A SYDNEY COLLECTION. (Received February 23, 5.5 p.m.) SYDNEY, February 23. A street collection made by theatrical stars in motor cars and a matinee at Her Majesty’s Theatre yielded £832 for the Scott fund. (Received February 24, 0.35 a.m.) SYDNEY, February 23. The Scott fund has been augmented by over £2OO by a benefit in the Town Hall organised by the amalgamated picture companies. Professor David gave assistance with films explaining the work of the expedition.
