TERRITORIALS RETURN

. A FINE MARCH. After a week’s encampment the Territorials at tlio forte and at Trentham returned to their homes on Saturday- ... The sth Regiment arrived in town shortly after 5 o’clock, and headed hy the regimental band marched by way of Lambton quay, Willis, Manners, and Cuba streets to the drill hall. Many’ hundreds of people witnessed the procession, which was a very fine one. All ranks wore greatcoats, and this, added to the appearance of the evenly sloped bayonets, gave the march a rather im-' pressive character. Praise is due to the .band for its playing. During the past year the 6th Regiment Band has improved wonderfully. This ■ year’s march of the Territorials easily eclipsed that of last year, although the latter was not by any means poor. Undoubtedly, the training scheme is proving of benefit to the young soldiers’ physique. They were all well set-up, and this fact was commented upon on all sides. At Trentham in the moming_ an, ‘ orderly room” was held, at which the twenty-seven “mutineers” of one company who refused to cross the Hutt river on Friday were asked to explain the reason for their conduct. All aorta of excuses were made, but it appeared that the trouble was really due to one or two recalcitrants, who assumed the roles of ringleaders. The whole batch were fined, those taking the most-pro-minent part being penalised heaviest. The affair caused much disgust in the regiment, and the delinquents feel much ashamed of themselves.
