ENGLISH BY-ELECTION
THE CHOBLEY SEAT. LONDON, February 20. Tho by-election for the Chorley Division of Lancashire seat in the House of Commons rendered vacant by the resignation of Lord Balcarres, who takes his place in the House of Lords consequent on the death of his father, the Earl of Crawford, resulted: Mr Hibbert (Unionst) 7573 Mr Jackson (Liberal) 6606 [At the last general election the polling was: Lord Balcarres (Unionist), 7423; Mr Jackson, 4887. At the two previous elections—lß9s and 1900—Lord Balcarres was returned unopposed.]
