ATTACKED WITH RAZOR

YOUNG WOMAN SERIOUSLY WOUNDED. LONDON, January 12. A savage attack with a razor on a young woman and a long ocarch by the police in Mansfield and district resulted in. the appearance before the magistrate of a youth named Samuel Asman. who was charged with wounding and intent to murder Lily Attenborough. The prisoner, who is eighteen years of age, has jireviously been before the magistrates for threatening and following girls of the town. The story of the attack was described by Superintendent Rodgers. It appcared. said the superintendent, that prisoner had known the girl lor a week or ten days, and had been keeping company with her during that time. He gave her the name of Horace Eastwood, but in some way she found out his proper and got to know his history, and she then told him she wished to have nothing further to do with him. On Monday night, when she was returning from work, prisoner met her in Westfield lane. He spoke to her, and attcrwards savagely attacked her with a razor. He inflicted four wounds -one from the left side of the chin down to the throat, the wound going as deep as the bone, and having to be sewn up with seven stitches, under both cheeks, and also at the back of one of the ears. P.C. Turtou was near at hand, and on feeing him the prisoner bolted. The officer saw' him running away, but did not then know what had happened. However, on walking along the road he found the girl bleeding badly from the wounds. He at once rendered first aid, and ;ook the injured girl to her home. Dr S. Littlewood was called in, and found the girl in a serious condition, and it would be some time before she would he able to appear at court. A search was made for the prisoner, and at a late hour he was apprehended ns he was creeping indoors. According to the constable who arrested him, prisoner said : “I will bo her in. Asman: I didn't say owt at all. the officer added that on searching prisoner he found a razor in his possession. Prisoner was remanded.
