The boat drifted shorewards with Malcolm and Guinnane still clinging to it. Their plight was observed and they were picked up by another boat. Malcolm was found to be in a bad condition on account of having been dashed against the boat by the strong swell which was running. Guinnane is not reported to have suffered ■in any way. . Pengulley was 'a single man, and it is thought that he was unable to swim.
