THE NEW LOAN
PRIME MINISTER DECLINES INFORMATION. The Prime Minister was yesterday asked by a “Times” representative whether he could state tho allocation of the new loan raised in London by the Hon. James Allen. The prospectus, it is reasonable to assume, has already been placed in the hands of tho investing public at Home. _Mr Massey replied that he had received unofficial intimation concerning the purposes for which part of the loan would be utilised, but ho was not in a position to disclose any of this information. He conld not state how much would ha devoted to public works, nor for lands for settlement, nor for railway construction. Tho loan had practically been raised, however. According to a press cable message, the sum of £655,100 will he utilised for redemption purposes, and the balance for publio works, land settlement, and development or State coal mines. The amount for the last mentioned is believed to be £IOO,OOO.
