FIRES
About 3 o’clock yesterday morning a fire occurred in a five-roomed cottage m Gnepu road, Lyall Bay, owned by Jtasson, Ltd., and occupied by hredenck Lutterworth. The front bedroom and dining-room and contents were destroyed, while the rest of the house, with its furniture, was damaged by heat and smoke. The dwelling was insured for £550 with the Loudon and Lancashire office, and the contents in the United office for £250. At twenty minutes past 7 last evening the tire brigade was summoned to Taitville. where a four-roomed house, occupied by Mr Sidon, and owned by Mr hi. George, of Taitville, was found to require attention. The occupants were not at home at the time. The building and contents were badly damaged. An insurance of £l2O covered the house in the South British office, but the contents were not insured. A house belonging to Mr J. Poster at Belmont was completely gutted by fire yesterday afternoon. There was no one on the premises at the time. Mr Foster left home at 8 o’clock in the morning, and Mrs Poster was away. The budding was insured for £2OO in the State office and the furniture for £35.
