CONTROL OF STREET TRAFFIC

Press Association. AUCKLAND, February 17. The proper regulation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic has for some time been engaging the attention of tho Auckland City Council, and the need for more rigorous enforcement of tho city by-laws has led the Mayor to make a recommendation to the City Council finance committee that the Police Department should he asked to take over the control and regulation of street traffic in Auckland. The Mayor haa further instructed the town clerk to write to Wellington and obtain particulars of the agreement under which the police are to control the whole ot tho city traffic there.
