SATURDAY’S PLAY. On account of the athletic meeting on the Basin Reserve on Saturday all senior championship matches were postponed. A FRIENDLY MATCH. • A friendly game was played between North and Hutt, at Hutt on Saturday afternoon. North compiling 292 runs in their first innings. on Saturday. Tlie combined team batted first and compiled 71, (Jongdon 28 and Wixen (not out) 12 being the only doublefigure scorers. Hickson took seven wickets for 32 runs, including the hat trick, and C. Welch took two for 15. Carlton replied with 11G—F. Welch 2G, Kemball 25, W. Hoar 21. K. Welch 15. Congdou took four wickets for 37 runs, Wixen three for 30, and Jordan two for 14. The match will be continued next Saturday. A match was played at Carterton on Saturday between Masterton and Carterton High Schools. Masterton made 140. F. Hoar, who is a member of the Carlton senior team, compiled 55 and then retired, and H. Miller (another member of tne Carlton senior team) put together 24. Perrin 12 was the only other doublefigure scorer. Carterton compiled 13 in the first innings (F. CHRISTCHURCH, February 15. The weather was beautifully fine to-day when the seventh round of grade matches was concluded. St. Aibans found Kiccanon scores of 391 all too big for them, and suffered defeat, whilst West Christchurch went down badly to Sydenham, and Bast Christchurch had no trouble in disposing of Linwood. Sydenham now lead by 4 points, and as there are only two matches to play they can hardly be dispossessed of this season’s championship. Scores: Ricoarton 391 v. St. Albans 256 and 177 for seven (F. C. Atkinson Gd not out). East Christchurch 240 v. Linwood 84 and 120. Sydenham 274 v. West Christchurch 60 and 106, DUNEDIN. February 15. The cricket matches to-day were played iu fine weather, all the grounds being in excellent order. Last baturday Grange made 117 and Albion 55 for nine wickets. To-day Albion’s first Innings closed for 60 (Williams 28), and their second innings for 104, Grange thus obtaining a one-rnnings victory. Downes secured sight wiolcete for 19 runs. In the match Opoho v. vmriabrook last week the latter made 210 and to-day their opponents closed the first innings for 138. Carisbrook in the second venture made 153 for eight wickets and won the match on the first innings. Carisbrook B made 147 last week and Dunedin 76 for five wickets. The Dunedin innings closed to-day for 167 (Torrance 45 not out). The match had not been played out when stumps were drawn, hut Dunedin secures a win on tho first innings.
