The Chief Justice, Sir John Madden, at a sitting of the Divorce Court, commenting on a case brought against a man for brutally ill-treating and deserting his wife, said it was not very difficult to conceive such treatment it the man was an ourang-outang, in which case he would bo shot. Power should be given to award imprisonment, with the lash, in such cases.
