Prospects seem encouraging. SOUTHERN GRAIN MARKETS Press Association. OAMARU, February 16. During the week a little more life has been infused into the gram market, especially in old wheat for mixing purposes, and some large lines have quitted hands. A mixed line of 1500 sacks and a straight line of 1000 sacks of velvet changed hands at 3s 9d at country stations, less commission. and a line of 1200 sacks of velvet and 360 Tuscan was sold at 3s BJd on the same terms. New wheat has been sold at 3s Gd and 3s 6fd less commission at country stations, rod chaff at 3s 5Jd less commission. These prices may be taken as indicating the state of the market. New oats are in the market. A Gartens having been sold at 2s net on trucks at country stations, and B grade at Is lid and Is Hid. Chevalier barley, but not of top malting quality, has realised 3s lOd less commission at country stations. For Gape barley 2s net has been offered, but refused. Several lots of rye corn have ben sold at equal to Ss 3d net at country stations. Cocksfoot has been selling at from 3d to 3id. WELLINGTON CUSTOMS The Customs revenue and beer duty collected at Wellington last week totalled respectively .£ll, 834 10s 5d and £492 6s fid. Saturday’s Customs return amounted to £3021 15s lid.
