PICNICS
A SUCCESSFUL OUTING. The Public Works District Office. Workshops and Stores Departments held their eignth annual picnic at Trcntham Raceootuee on Saturday. Ideal weather prevailed, and 0ver.366 people were present; including Mr it. J. Blow (Under Secretary), aud Mr.J. D- Louoh. District Engineer. , „ ' A long programme of sports for young and eld was gone through, and the sth Regimental Band wan m attendance. Messrs Simpson and Wickman also supplied musical items, and tho whole outing was highly enjoyable. After the sports, Mr Blow presented the prizes, and thanked the committee responsible tor the excellent arrangements. An apology for absence w-as received from the Hon. W. Fraser.
