LIQUOR LICENSES
TAIHAPE OBJECTIONS UNDER REVIEW. Special to the “Times.” WANGANUI, February 14. An interesting case affecting wholesale liquor licenses in Taihape was brought before his Honor the Chief Justice in Banco to-day. The parties chiefly concerned are A. M. Ryan and J. Cody to whom new licenses were granted last year. It was stated that these license: were objected to by certain bodies oi residents on the ground that they were additional licenses, and that it would be a contravention of the licensing laws to grant them. The point had been submit ted to the Crown Law Office, which now through the Hon. A. L. Herduiuu, At-torney-General, brought the question be fore-the Supremo Court. It was stated before his Honor tha: Ryan had consented to the' issue of n writ quashing his license. Cody, fo: whom Mr Gitford Moore appeared, wish ed tlio matter dealt with by the Anuea. Court, which sits next April. His Honoi warned Cody against selling liquor in th. meantime, pointing out that if his license was quashed by the Court he would be in danger of prosecution for having sold liquor during the whole period.
