Press Association. , GORE, February 14. There was unusually wintry weather yesterday and to-day, accompanied by terrific squalls and heavy showers. The folia surrounding the town were capped with snow this morning. Damage was done to local orchards, and in some cases trees were completely stripped. Grain in stock and ready for cutting will probably suffer severely. A brick wall at Whiterig Dairy Factory was stove in. The racing club’s recently-erected grandstand suffered, twelve sheets of roofing iron being torn off and blown a considerable distance. TIMARU, February 14.
