THE HOSPITAL
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY COLLECTIONS. Citizens will to-day and to-morrow have an opportunity of assisting a ver\ worthy cause —the hospital. An army i>f collectors will meet them m tu. main thoroughfares early and late. The whole proceedings will, as last year, bo administered by the hospital stall. Largo numbers of collectors have offered their services. The Chinese residents of Wellington have collected £7O 3s Cd towards this fund, of which the secretary desires to make acknowledgment. The Chinese make free use of tho hospital, and appreciate the services of the doctors and nurses. They contributed a similar amount last year. To-morrow afternoon throe bands, Wellington City, Jupp’s, and tho Tram- ■ ways, will play a combined programme in Newtown Park. Tho Salvation Army band will march from tho Basin Reserve to tho park at 2.30 p.m., and they will also bo responsible for the music in the hospital grounds. Tho Waterside Workers’ Band will play to-morrow at the ferry services and at Day’s Bay, and the Miramar Band will entertain local residents with an attractive programme in Seatoun Park. At all these places collections will bo made in aid of tho hospital.
