BRAVERY OF CAPTAIN OATES
STORY OF SOUTH AFRICAN WAR. LONDON, February 12. The newspapers are giving prominence to a story concerning tho bravery of Captain Oates when serving in tho South African War. When hia patrol wc? surrounded, the Boer commander demanded its' surrender, but Oates replied : “Wo are hero to fight.” He was afterwards known as “No-Sur-render Oates.”
