SIR RICHARD SOLOMON’S REMARKS NOT OFFICIAL. (Received February 13, 0.35 a.m.) CAPETOWN, February 12. Replying to Mr Van Niekirk, General Botha, Prime Minister) said the remarks made by Sir Richard Solomon, High Commissioner, in connection with the ceremony on H.M.S. New Zealand, when he said that a visit of the warship to Capetown would probably stimulate the South African people to take a greater interest in the naval question, simply expressed his personal views, and in nowise construed tho opinion of the Government.
