More fat sheep and lambs were also offered, and there were also good entries in other departments. The attendance was fairly large. Eat cattle lost in the values they made last week. Eat lambs were easier, as were fat sheep. Pigs of all classes sold better. Store and dairy cattle met with a moderate demand. The entries of store sheep wore considerably below those of the previous week. i'orward rape lambs, of which only a few pens were offered, made 13s 2d to 14s 4d, fairly forward lines 12s to 12s Bd, good average sorts 11s to 11s Gd, fair 10s 3d to 10s Od, small and inferior 8s to 8s sd, halfbred wethers 9s 6d to lls Gd, ewes 12s 3d to 13s Gd, two-tooth ewes brought 15s to 19s 2d, four-tooth to IGs 6d, six and eight-tooth 14s to IGs Bd, four, six, and eight-tooth lls to 12s Gd, four and six-tooth 14s to IVe Bd, average sound mouth sheep lls 6d to 13s 4d, full and failing mouth 9s to 9s Id, four and sixtooth wethers 15a 9d, small two-tooths 12s 3d, and two and four-tooth' sorts 12s 3d to 14s 6d. There were 1750 fat lambs penned. Best lambs 16s to 18s sd, light 14s to 15s 6d. There were between 4000 and 5000 fat sheep entered of average quality, and last week's rise in values was not maintained. Prime wethers 19s to 225, lighter 16s 9d to 18s Gd, prime ewes 17s to 20s Bd, medium lls Get to IGs 6d, others 10a to 14s. Fat cattle totalled 343, beef being Is 6d per 1001 b lower, the ruling price being 22s to 30s per l(X)lb. Steers £7 5s to £l3 10s, heifers £6 to £9 15s, cows £6 2s 6d to £l3 3s. There was a large yarding of fat cattle at Burnside to-day, 217 being penned, principally medium weight bullocks ot fair quality. The offering • was in excess of requirements, and prices showed a drop of XOs per head at beginning of the sole as compared with last week, and declined still further towards the end. Best bullocks £ll 10s to £l2 10s, extra to £l3 10s, good £9 Xss to £lO 10b, light £7 10s to £S 15e, best cows and heifers £9 to £lO, extra good to £ll Iflß, good £7 10s to £8 10s, light £5 to £6 15s. Fat Sheep—27o2 were penned, consisting of medium weight wethers and owes, with only a few pens of prime sheep, although the freezing works open on Thursday.' There was no.competition by exporters, and prices .showed a drop of about Is per head. Best wethers 21s to 235, extra to 24s Gd, medium to good 18s Gd to 20s, light 16s Gd to 18s Gd, best ewes 18s Gd to 21s, extra good to 37s Gd, medium IGs Gd to 18s, light 13s Gd to lo Fat^Lambe—833 penned. This number was largely in excess of butchers requirements at this time of year, and as freezing buyers were not operating prices declined Is Gd to 2s per head. Competition was very keen for fats, and prices showed a rise fully 5s per head. Stores sold at about last weeks rates.
