PANTOMIMIC PARADE

WHANG ARE I CADETS HAVE A NIGHT OUT. Press Association. WHANGAREI, February 4. A reporter who was present at tho senior cadets’ parade last night states that uniforms had been issued to tho cadets the previous week, but no stockings had been handed out. Tho boys paraded last night, wearing variegated socks and suspenders. When the parade started they marched round the hall singing “Here we go round tho Mulberry Bush” and “What’s the Matter With Father," whistling “The Grenadiers,” passing remarks such ns “Hold your Head up or I’ll Sell You,” and imitating tho sergeant-major. When given the command to halt they called out “Wheal” Generally, tho turn-out was disgraceful. Tho police eventually wore called in, but were unable to effect any arrests, as that power rests with the defence authorities. After tho parade a squad was formed and the cadets marched tho streets, led by an individual playing a mouth organ, singing parodies and popular songs. There was little or no attempt to keep discipline.
