ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. From Onr Own Correspondent. February 3. The annual general meeting in connection with the Otaki Public Library was held at the readingroom on Saturday evening. Present—Mr W. Burns Smith (chairman), Mesdames AV. Knight and Cecil Smith, Messrs R. Booth, Frank Poim, anti librarian (Mr W. Eisher). The statement of accounts was as under: Receipts—Cr. balance brought forward from last year, £2 Os 6d; members’ subscriptions, .£26 3s; Government sub sidy, Jill 19s 9d; bank overdraft, December 31st, 1913, J 5104 11s 6d; total, .£144. 14s 2d. Expenditure—Librarian's salary and commission, -Cl3 8s; fuel and lighting, £2 13s 6d; new books, ATI 18s sd; acetylene gas installation, £7 2s; advertising, 4s 6d; insurance, AT Ss: stamps, etc., .£1 Is 6d; cash in hand. I Os; owing to librarian, 2s; bank overdraft, December 31st, 1911, £lO6 5s 3d: total, A!-1-1 14s 2d. It was anticipated that the Town Board would grant a subsidy to tho library. The election of officers resulted in the election of the following:—Committee, Mesdames E. Hopkins and AV. Knight, Messrs AV. B. Smith, R. Booth, and F. Penn; librarian, Mr W. Fisher; auditor, Mr Freeman. Mr AV. B. Smith was re-elected chairman of tho committee. Mrs E. Hopkins and Mr AV. B. Smith were again deputed to purchase new books for the libraryIt was resolved’ that the librarian write to the proprietors of the various newspapers sent gratis ,to the. readingroom, thanking them for their generosity. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the librarian (Mr AV. Fisher), the chairman stating that the neat appearance of the readingroom, the grounds, and his careful management did him credit.
