FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPION
MORAN AND DRISCOLL. MATCH DECLARED A DRAW. (“Sydney Sun" Cable.) LONDON, January 28. Jim Driscoll and Owen Moran fought at tile National Sporting Club last night for the championship of Great Britain and .£ISOO. The battle was disappointing, inasmuch as there was too much clinching for the crowd's liking. Referee Douglas could not separate the men on points at the end of the scheduled twenty rounds, and declared a draw. Driscoll tipped the beam at 9st, and Moran at Bst 121 b. There was an enormous attendance. It was purely a Driscoll house, and Moran was frequently hissed for offences that were not apparent. Lord Lonsdale was thrice compelled to demand fair play from the crowd. Honours were even at the termination of the tenth round, but Moran was ahead in the nineteenth, though the crowd demonstratively favoured Driscoll. When the gong sounded for the last round Moran went in to “mix it," and had his opponent at hia mercy. Driscoll was groggy and unable to defend himself, but the going saved him when he was practically knocked out. An enthusiastic reception met Mr Douglas’s verdict. Huglne Mehegan, whi was standing well back, expressed an opinion that Moran won fairly and squarely.
