EXPECTED TO ADJOURN TO-DAY

AUCKLAND, January 30.
This morning was devoted to th'e consideration of the interim report of tho statutes committee, the various proposals for Bids to amend the statute in the directions indicated during the sitting of the senate being read and discussed and passed a first time, according to requirements.
The senate then adjourned until tomorrow morning, in order that the proposed amendments might lie on the table a day and be formally passed te-m'brrow morning, when it is expected the purely formal business to be transacted will not occupy more than half an hour.
