AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE
CLAIMS OP HAWKE’S BAY Press Association.
HASTINGS,
January 29,
The Prime Minister, Mr Massey, replying to a deputation from the Chamber of Commerce, who asked for the establishment of an agricultural college in Hawke’s Bay, said it was the intention of tho Government to establish one in ©ach island—th© North Island first, because tho South already had a valuable institution in Lincoln College. The Government had been hampered by the financial commitments of its predecessors, and was unable to do more than collect information as to the working of agricultural colleges in other countries. The site for the North Island allege was as yet unchosen and the claims of Hawke’s Bay would be fully considered, but ho would not commit the Cabinet to any promise.
