Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, January 28. _ During tho training operations this morning at Riccarton all tho work was done outside the course proper, the other tracks being too wet to use. Autumnus and Scottish Star did. six furlongs in Imin 20sec. Mumura covered a mile and a quarter in 2miu 24sec. Hisioriette was .better than Cherubin and Snowraker at the end of five furlongs, covered in Imin Cisec. Nightwatch, with the assistance of Judith over the last five, covered six furlongs in Imin 21seo. Winning Way spurted five" furlongs in Imin 52sec; Martius four in 53 3-sseo; Emperador and Free five in Imin 6 2-6 sec, the former being much the hotter. Salzburg showed to more advantage than Ogier over five furlongs in Imin 5 2-sseo. Stamboul covered five furlongs in Imin 6 2-Gsec. Canute held Andrea easily at tho end of seven in Imin S 3 l-sscc, while Rinaldo did five in Imin 5 2-usec. After breakfast the weather was much worse. Imp did five furlongs in Imin 7- 2-sseo, Genius six in Imin 25scc, Fender five in Imin 8 2-sseo, Tannhauser a mile in Imin 52 l-ssec, and Thrax five furlongs in Imin I3sec. Anna Carlovna covered a mile and a quarter comfortably in 2min 23sec. Pilgrim’s Way went six furlongs easily in Imin 21 3-ssec. and Scotch Melody a similar distance in Imin 23sec. Pleasure Bent heat Kimono over six furlongs in Imin 22sec, Peg did five in Imin 7bgc, and John defeated Aimwell over a similar distance in Imin 8 2-ssec. Stardancer cut out a mile in Imin 48 4-sscc. Query went six furlongs in Imm 22 l-ssec, Gnome nine in 2min slseoand Warstep, fully extended, covered five in Imin 8 2-ssoc. Tho Cannie Chiel—Starshot filly. Pawky Lass, fractured a fetlock yesterday, and had to be destroyed.
