CHANGES IN ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS. "

AUCKLAND, January 28,

The University Senate resolved that the subject for the Macmillan Brown prize in 1914 bo “The Conquest of the Air"; that the loilowing changes referring to entrance scholarships take effect at the December examination, 1914: maxiumu marks for geography 400, instead of 425; maximum marks for'all subjects presented to any candidate not to exceed 6050, instead of 6200 as formerly; that at tho December examination, 1915, the subject “Sound and Light and the Elementary Mechanics of Solids” be removed from the list of subjects, and home science added.

A committee was appointed to report upon the constitution of the University in accordance with a resolution passed on Monday. The members of the committee are as fo.low :—The Chancellor, Professors F. D. Brown, J. M. Brown, Chilton, Hunter, and Marshall, Rev. A. Cameron, Dr. Fitchett, Mr Von Haast, Mr Hogben, and Dr. McDowell. It was resolved, on Professor T. A. Hunter’s motion, to request the various college councils to arrange the college terms of 1914, so as to allow New Zealand University professors to attend the meeting of the British Association in Australia.
