Mr Biay, wuo was for e-eveu_ y-ars Uuuea bni-c., Consul-General in Melbourne, and lor the past fit-o years Consul-General tor Australia—in which capacity ins salaiy was AlllO a year—has been appointed baited States Consul for HantuetiCr. The new post is one of most responsible in the service, involving a very largo amount of business care, and nccc-s----ei kiting wide commercial knowledge. The present representative of the Lnlted States Government at the big manufacturing centre is Mr Church Howe, whose salary is AI2OO a year. Mr Bray was bom in 1859 at Grand Forks, Berth Dakota, tmd is a graduate of Minnesota University. It is not vet known who is to be the new Consul-General for Australia. , ■
