AUCKLAND, January 28. A six-roomed house ,in Grey Lynn, owned by Mr Nairn and occupied by Mrs Thomas, was destroyed by fire last night. The. furniture, which was also destroyed, was uninsured.

CARTERTON, January 28. A fire at the Carrington settlement last night at 9.30 o’clock destroyed a house owned and occupied by G. E. Allen. Mr Allen and his wife escaped only in their night attire. Nothing was saved.
