It is believed that the British Museum expenditure on foreign books froatly exceeds that of any other lirarv in England Between 1902 and 1911, 136 tons of farthings were issued from the mint, valued at more than £50,000, stated Mr Masterman, in reply to a parliamentary question. That sum would represent 48,000,000 farthings in circulation.
