WELLINGTON CRICKET ASSOCIATION

The management icommiiltteo of th* Wellington Cricket Association met last evening, Mr M. Luckie presiding. The Auckland Association wrote suggesting that Wellington visit Auckland again next season. Canterbury was going to Auckland then, covering Wellington and Auckland in one trip, and Auckland wished to do Wellington and Contcrljury in one trip when playing the return matches. The Auckland Association would give special terms for this match, say 50 per cent, of the profits. The Auckland Association accepted the suggestion that the visiting team should receive 30 per cent., an 3 this would apply to their visit Io Wellington. The chairman said there was a scheme under consideration by the various associations regarding intcrproviucial matches, and he suggested that the letter should be considered when the result of this conference was ascertained. This was agreed to. The Otago Association wrote asking whether the Wellington Association intended to send a team to Dunedin this season. The chairman said that they could not visit Dunedin this year. Mr Midlano said it had been stated that the Otago Association was disappointed, and the idea was abroad that the Wellington Association was thinking more of the Plunkot Shield than its representative engagements. . The chairman said, this was quite erroneous. The sole reason for going to Auckland in preference to any other place was to play for the shield, knowing that all other large associations were engaged in matches, and they were left with vacant dates. At New Year they accepted the Auckland match as Auckland was not travelling, and they expected a return visit next season. It was resolved to inform the Otago Association to that effect.

On Saturday last the Petone-Hutt match resulted in a win for the former by one run according to the batsmen'e scores. However, the bowling analysis gave it as a tie, each side being credited with 210 runs. The committee was asked to adjudicate on this matter, and it was decided to rule that in the case of a disagreement between the bowling analysis and the batsmen’s scores plus extras the latter should be taken as the correct record. The match in question was awarded to Petone. . The committee decided to write to the Wednesday Association asking if it would be agreeable to play a match againg' the Saturday representatives towards end of the season.
