LOST ON MOUNT EGMONT

YOUNG LADY’S TRAGIC DEATH

Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, January 27

A young lady, Evelyn Oxenham, aged 22, lost her life at Mount Egmont yesterday. Sho had mado tho ascent with a young man named Locke. A mist came on and they lost their hearings near tho crater. Miss Oxenham was already exhausted. Locko left her to endeavour- to recover tho track. Returning, ho could not find her. A search party, under Guide (Murphy, met Locko descending almost distracted, hut failed to find tho missing lady after three hours’ searching. Another party then ascended, and Guido Murphy found tho young lady’s body. Life was extinct. It will ho a difficult task to bring the body down, hut it is hoped to effect it to-morrow.
