ALLEGED BAD FOOD THE CAUSE. Press Association. DUNEDIN, January 26. In the Police Coun yesterday James Nisbett and John Robertson, firemen, were charged with deserting’ from the Hurunui. , . * , . Accused pleaded guilty, but said bad food was tne cause of deserting. Xiiej said they had complained to the captain and the chief engineer, but no improvement took place. Nineteen men had left, the ship since she sailed from Glasgow. The magistrate (Mr Widdowson) said that if there was, anything wrong the men should complain to the captain, and if he would not remedy they should complain to the Minister of Ma* line, who would no doubt make inquiries. Accused were sentenced to one month s imprisonment with a reservation that they be placed on board the ship when it was leaving New Zealand*
