(PER PRESS AGENCV.) Christchurch, Tuesday, Daniel O’Brien, alias John Foley, has been committed for trial for forging and uttering a cheque for £lO. The Rakaia and Waimakarira Pavers are much swollen to-day, in consequence of northwester prevailing for some days past having melted the snow on the ranges. No particular damage is reported. Mastebton, Tuesday. Last .evening the handsome Masonic Hall at Mastertcn was consecrated by the District Grand Master, Brother Toxward, the Rev. Brother Nicholls, and other members of the District Grand Lodge being present. A .Masonic ball was to have followed, but was postponed on account of Brother Hastwell’s death. A supper, however, was provided fur the Wellington visitors. A Past-Master’s jewel was presented to Brother Vallauce. Brother Bish has been elected W.M. for the ensuing year.
