KARORI-MAKARA HIGHWAY BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the KaroriMakara Highway Board was held on Saturday. Present—Messrs. Graham (chairman), Cook, Bowler, and Page. Mr. Prendeville (clerk) and Mr. Robinson (collector) were also in attendance. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and some correspondence was read. An application from Rilbirxne settlers for a bridge was received, and the clerk was instructed to request Mr. Fitzherbert to report on it at next meeting. An application from Polhill Gully settlers was postponed till next meeting. Mr Cook moved, and Mr. Bowler seconded,—That the clerk be directed to write to the Chief Surveyor, urging him to push on the surveys in the Makara and Terawhiti district with all possible expedition. Vouchers for £290 2s. Id (subsidy from the General Government), and £2OO (subsidy from the Hutt County Council), were received. . Mr. Thomas Robinson was appointed valuer at i remuneration of £25. The chairman was authorised to call for tenders for 209 yards of metal, to be taken from the South Karori road. Sundry accounts were ordered to be paid, and the meeting then adjourned.
