The steamer Rangatlra is again put in commission, and will make her first trip to Wanganui at 7 o'clock to-morrow night, returning to port on Tuesday, and leaving again same day for Wanganui, Taranaki, and Manukau. We arc glad to notice that Captain Harvey, of the Manawatu, has been appointed to the command. Captain Evans having resigned to take charge of the Wakatu. The steamer Kiwi sailed for Flaxbonrne yesterday evening. Tho steamer Agnes was at anchor in Worser Bay yesterday, beh'g unable to proceed with the work of repairing the cable on account of the heavv sea. Captain Harvey, the popular captain of the steamer Manawatu, having been appointed to the Rangatira, Mr. Scoones. chief officer, has been selected to fill tho vacancy. We congratulate Captain Scoones op his well-earned promotion, he having obtained the distinction bestowed on him by many years of service. The steamer Manawatu loft Wanganui at 9.30 p.m. on Wednesday, and arrived here at 0 a.m. yesterday. Sha left again at 4.30 p m. for the same port. Tho brigantine Sarah Pile, with •' cargo of sawn kauri timber for Messrs. "Waddell 'nd McLeod, arrived from Kaipara yesterday afterm* • ■ The Union Company's steamer Roto; ’ ’"ina will arrive this morning from Sydney, via Auc« ■ ’d. Gisborne. and Napier. She sails again at 5 p.m- for Lyttelton and Port Chalmers. The steamer Storrnbird got away for Foxton yesterday evening. The Union Company’s steamer Waitaki, from Lyttelton and Port Chalmers, is duo this morning. She leaves again at 5 p.m. (or Manukau and intermediate ports. The steamer Huia should arrive from Picton this morning. She is advertised to leave for Kaikoura and Lyttelton at 6 p.m. The steamer Jane Douglas left for Kaikoura and Lyttelton at 7 o'clock last night. The steamer? Napier and Lyttelton arrived from Blenheim yesterday morning. They both returned to tho same port last night. Th** steamer Wanganui should arrive from Southern porta this morning. Sho leaves for Nelson and West Coast ports at 2 o clock In the afternoon. The Union Company’s steamer Wanaka, from Auckland and Ea-t Coast ports, is due here to-day. She leaves for Lyttelton and Port Chalmers at 2 p.m. to morrow. The barque Alexa, having discharged her cargo, started ballastin 'yesterday. She will haul away from tho wharf to-morrow morning. Port Adelaide, is published for general Information;—“ Gulf of St. Vincent.—Outer Bar, entrance to Port Adelaide.—Tho outer bar channel, at the entrance to Port Adelaide, has been deepened to not less than 181 feet at low water, for a width of about 220 feet.” —Jf.
